Q III (A) Solve the following problem sums:

1. In 7 cartons, there are 3500 apples in each. If the 45 apples are rotten in each carton, find the total number of good apples.

Answer:

1 carton has ==== 3500 apples

7 cartons has ===== ? apples

Cross Multiply we get

? = 3500 x 7 = 24500 apples.

There are total of 24,500 apples in 7 cartons.

Now 1 carton has ==== 45 bad apples

Therefore 7 cartons has ==== ? bad apples

Cross Multiply we get

? = 7 x 45 = 315 apples are bad apples.

Now find total number of good apples which is === total number of apples - total number of bad apples

                                                                               = 24500 - 315 =  24185 apples are good apples.

Answer: Total number of good apples are 24, 185

2. Reeta pays Rs. 1500 to her piano teacher and Rs. 750 to the donation club every month. Find the total amount paid by her in 1 year?

Answer: Total amount paid by Reeta = Rs. 1500 for her piano teacher + Rs. 750 to donation club

                                                            =  2250 Rs. is total paid by Reeta every month.

Now 1 month amount paid ==== Rs. 2250

Therefore 12 months amount paid === ? how much

Cross Multiply we get

? = 2250 x 12 = 27,000 Rs. is total amount paid in 12 months or you can say paid in 1 year
